How to Obtain Your Social Security Benefit Statement (SSA-1099)
Tax season has arrived, and we’ve simplified the process of replacing your Social Security Benefit Statement. You no longer need to wait on hold or schedule an office visit. The entire process can be done from the comfort of your home.
Understanding the Social Security Benefit Statement (SSA-1099/SSA-1042S)
The Social Security Benefit Statement, also known as SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S, is a crucial tax document sent to those who receive Social Security benefits.
It is mailed out every January and summarizes the total benefits you received during the previous year. This form is essential when reporting your Social Security income to the IRS for your tax return.
Key Points:
- The SSA-1099 form displays the amount of benefits you received.
- If you only receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you will not receive this form, as SSI payments are not taxed.
